Page Broadwater Recognized with First-Ever NAILBA Chairman’s Award

November 19, 2009

(Fairfax, Va.)—Gary Dworkin, 2009 Chairman of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA), has selected Page Broadwater, LTCP, a Senior Underwriter for the ASA Group, as the recipient of the 2009 NAILBA Chairman’s Award. The honor was presented at the association’s NAILBA 28 trade show in Hollywood, Fla., last week.

The award, new in 2009, was developed to recognize the efforts of a NAILBA volunteer who has performed “over and above” normal expectations during the Chairman’s term.

“Page has never once failed to roll up her sleeves to bring an idea to fruition,” Dworkin said. “Whether it was through her tireless work on behalf of the professional development committee, her commitment to the success of the Executive Forum and Agency Management Institute, or her ability to contribute to NAILBA whenever and wherever needed, she epitomizes the can-do spirit of a NAILBA volunteer.”

The honor came as a complete surprise to Broadwater, who has been active in NAILBA for more than 13 years.

“Being the first recipient of this award is a huge honor for me and I am blown away by the whole thing,” she said. “My involvement in NAILBA is something I do out of passion and joy. Sure, I have a sense of responsibility to the brokerage community, which has been really good to me and allowed me to have this wonderful job that lets me do what I enjoy doing. But for me, being involved is not an obligation, but because I enjoy participating in those kind of activities.”

Broadwater has worn many hats during her time with NAILBA, serving on the communications committee, the education committee and the membership committee at one time or another.

“It’s been really good for me because it’s afforded me the chance to meet a lot of people that I’ve forged fantastic friendships with,” she said, adding that the association’s education component is a cause close to her heart. “Both of my parents are teachers, I have a sister who is a teacher, so educational is really engrained in my blood.”

In the years to come, Broadwater said she hopes the association will continue to acknowledge volunteers for their exceptional work.

“I don’t know how they came about choosing me, but in the future, I think they really need to make sure they find someone who has a passion for the association and a passion for the industry as a whole,” she said.
