Agent Media and NAILBA to Study Agent, Broker Relationship
Report will help BGAs meet agents’ needs, improve production, retain, and recruit
(Fairfax, Va.) Agent Media and the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) have joined together for the second year in a row to undertake a comprehensive study of independent insurance producers. The study is designed to examine the relationship between brokerage general agencies (BGAs) and the agents who work in the field. Last year’s study was the first of its kind; this year, the report will provide a deeper look into the developing relationships between agents and their brokers.
“We hope this study will strengthen the relationship between brokerage general agencies and agents, helping BGAs to get the information they need to work with agents in more productive ways and to strengthen the distribution channel,” said John W. Felton, IV, NAILBA’s chairman of the board.
The survey will be conducted among licensed life and health producers throughout the country. The study will be in two parts: The first portion of the study will delve into issues important to insurance agents and their sales production, covering topics such as commission income, popular products, client base, business expenses, and how agents overcome challenges in the field.
The second part of the survey will closely examine the relationship between agents and their BGAs. The study will include questions on how many BGAs producers broker their business through, how long they have worked with their primary BGA, how happy they are with the services being provided by their BGA, and what could motivate agents to work with a BGA they have never worked with before. The survey results will give BGAs insight into their relationship with agents, help them improve recruitment and retention, and give them insight into what they can do to increase producer sales.
“This is the only study of its kind,” said Jamie Green, editor-in-chief at Agent Media. “Partnering with NAILBA helps this vital information get to the people who need it to improve their business.”
The results of the study will be published in the November issue of the Agent’s Sales Journal, along with an exclusive Guide to Partnering with an Independent Brokerage Agency, which will show producers how to choose and form a successful alliance with their agency.
The study results will also be published in the November edition of Insurance Marketing magazine, the only independent publication serving BGAs, MGAs, agency managers, and home office executives.
Findings of the study will be released at the NAILBA annual meeting in Orlando, FL, Nov. 15-17, 2007.
