APS Summary Course

In order to assist brokerage general agencies place more business and control costs, the NAILBA Education Committee, in conjunction with Hank George, is pleased to present the APS Summary Course.  This course is designed to teach trusted members on the staff in a brokerage general agency office to be able to organize, read and summarize the medical records on potential insurance applicants.

In the APS Summary Course, the brokerage general agency staff will acquire the basic and fundamental knowledge and insight needed to review medical records from attending physicians, clinics and hospitals, and to be able to extract the essential information underwriters need from those medical records to be able to determine an insurance applicant's insurability.

This course can be used to teach a trusted staff member how to summarize medical records so that the brokerage general agency does not have to use an outside source for this service.  It can also be used as an extremely beneficial source of information to assist the brokerage general agency staff in understanding what information underwriters are looking for when they are trying to determine an applicant's insurability, even if they are not creating the actual summary. 

The APS Summary Course is not designed to teach anyone how to interpret or actually underwrite the information.  The NAILBA Education Committee, along with Hank George, simply wanted to provide the tools needed to capture and summarize the information to be passed on to a qualified underwriter for interpretation of an applicant's insurability.

Designed as a basic primer for brokerage agency staff who would be summarizing APS content for brokerage underwriters as well as carriers, this course is available exclusively to NAILBA members.
